It seemed that Adam and Eve were being short-changed as Eve spoke with the serpent, but GOD had given them all they needed and had their best interests in mind when He created the Garden of Eden. When Eve chose to believe the serpent and her own understanding rather than trust God, she made the biggest mistake of her life. Genesis 3
It seemed that Noah had been asked to do an unreasonable thing. To build a huge boat was ridiculous in man’s eyes, but GOD was planning destruction for the wicked and deliverance for those that trusted Him. Genesis 6
It seemed that Sarah was too old to have children, but GOD had made a promise to Abraham and God does not leave promises unfulfilled. Genesis 17-18
It seemed that God asked Abraham to do the unthinkable. To offer his only son, Isaac, on the altar in obedience to God was beyond reason, but GOD had a great plan. God provided a substitute for the sacrifice and gave us a foreshadowing of the cross. Genesis 22
It seemed that Joseph was all alone in trying to do right, but GOD had a reason for sending him to Egypt as a slave and then to prison. God was placing Joseph where he could meet the baker and butler to Pharaoh and begin the rise to power that would deliver his whole family from famine. Genesis 39-50
It seemed that Israel was forgotten in slavery to Egypt. Miriam probably expected a crocodile to devour the baby in the basket on the Nile River, but GOD had a different plan for Moses and sent Pharaoh’s daughter to discover the future leader of Israel. Exodus 1-2
It seemed that Moses had blown it. He had murdered an Egyptian so he fled for his life to the back side of the wilderness and found work tending sheep, but GOD arrested his attention with a burning bush and gave him a new assignment. Exodus 2-3
It seemed that Israel had fled Egypt only to be destroyed by the armies of Pharaoh. They were trapped by the Red Sea, but GOD did what only He could do and parted the water so his people would be delivered from the Egyptian army for good. Exodus 14
It seemed impossible that a multitude of people could find food in the wilderness, but GOD provided food from heaven every day so they did not starve to death. Exodus 16
It seemed that the Promised Land was inhabited by an invincible people, but GOD caused the walls of Jericho to fall and enabled Israel to conquer their enemies every time they obeyed Him. Joshua 2-3
It seemed that Goliath and the Philistines had the Israelites at an impasse, but GOD had chosen this crisis to allow David to demonstrate his faith and be put forth as a leader in Israel. I Samuel 17
It seemed that David had ruined his relationship with God because of murder and adultery, but GOD still used him and communed with David after he confessed his sin. II Samuel 11-12; Psalm 51
It seemed that Herod had taken care of the newborn king of Israel by killing all the babies in Bethlehem, but GOD had sent worshippers to Jesus with gold and valuable spices so his poor family could afford to flee to Egypt. Matthew 2
It seemed that Satan, Rome, and the Jewish leaders had won. Jesus Christ was dead and buried. The disciples were gathered in fear, but GOD had not finished yet. Jesus Christ arose from the tomb, triumphant over death and hell. Hallelujah! Praise God! Matthew 27-28; Mark 15-16; Luke 23-24; John 19-20
